Zeeland, MI – Plascore, Inc., a manufacturer of honeycomb cores for aerospace, marine, mass transportation and construction industries, is expanding in the City of Zeeland, investing $6 million and creating 10-15 jobs over the next two years. Plascore Inc. currently has four facilities in the Zeeland Industrial Park with over 300 full time employees.
“Plascore has benefitted from significant growth in the aerospace industry over the last few years”, said Chuck DeGlopper, Vice President Aramid Honeycomb at Plascore. “Due to the tremendous effort and attitude of our employees, we have been able to meet the increased demand and win additional customers. Our goal is to be the industry’s preferred supplier of honeycomb products. This expansion will allow us to continue pursuing new product innovations, while maintaining best-in-class lead times backed by outstanding customer service”.
Plascore, Inc. is building an approximate 73,500 square foot addition onto their current Aerospace Business Unit facility at 500 E. Roosevelt in Zeeland. This expansion will allow Plascore, Inc. to develop and install additional automated production equipment, facilitating capacity increases at competitive costs to meet their aerospace customers’ demands.
“Plascore is an excellent example of a company that continues to evolve their products and applications to new markets, creating sales and business growth,” said Jennifer Owens, Lakeshore Advantage president. “Their presence here helps diversify our manufacturing industry base and create great jobs in our region.”
Plascore’s expansion will double the size of their current Aerospace Business Unit Roosevelt Street facility in Zeeland, MI. Job openings encompass general manufacturing labor, skilled machine operators, customer service specialists, automation and product development engineers. The City of Zeeland is supporting Plascore’s expansion in the form of a PA 198 tax abatement.
“Plascore Inc. has been a corporate citizen of Zeeland for many years. We have watched them grow into a corporation known around the world,” said City of Zeeland mayor, Kevin Klystra. “They were granted a tax abatement for this addition because of their commitment for more jobs and for being supporters of many social and community events in and around Zeeland.”
Along with honeycomb cores, Plascore manufactures honeycomb panels for many and varied composite structures where there is a need for greater structural strength with less weight, such as cleanroom walls and ceilings, light rail vehicles and yacht interiors.
